DIY Studded Denim Shorts

Cut off jeans are a staple when it comes to Spring/Summer fashion, but it’s always nice to have a pair that shouts out “I’m not just any old denim shorts !”. Here is a DIY idea using pins to stud your jeans – the perfect outfit for a summer’s day rockin’ in the sun !

To make your own pair of Studded Denim Shorts, YOU WILL NEED :

– An old pair of jeans

– A pair of scissors

– A pot of pins

– A tube of fabric glue or super glue

– A small pair of pliers

– A strip of iron-on fabric adhesive

– An hour’s time

Tutorial :

Place you’re jeans on a flat surface and  have a think about which parts you wish to stud. It’s nice to have large panels of studs but make sure you get them nice and straight. If you’re a perfectionist, you might like to use a ruler and felt tip to plan out where you will place your studs. When you’re ready to pin-it, put a spot of glue onto your first pin and poke it through the denim. Fold over the spike with your pliers, making sure you squeeze it nice and tight. Continue to stud the front and back of your jeans until your design is done. Next, turn your jeans inside out so you can see where pins have been folded. If you just studded the pockets and belt loops you won’t need to do this, but if any of the pins are likely to touch your skin, follow these simple steps. Take a spare patch of denim (you could use a piece off the leg as we will be cutting the jeans into shorts later on). Place fabric adhesive on the back of the denim and iron onto the back of the pins. Finally, cut the shorts to the length you feel comfortable with, leave the glue to dry, and wear !

Let me know if you make your own !
