Trendspotting : The Raincoat // L’Anorak

So they call this April Showers… I call it RAIN ! I’ve been living in London for close to three months now and have seen more rain in the past month than ever in my life (sliiight exaggeration). Anyway, this flooding has had me thinking – well, watching – and I’ve noticed it can be tricky to know what to wear when it rains in Spring. Do you forget trendy, put fashion on pause and go for “practical” ? Do you try to look sophisticated and carry an umbrella (but forget it the first place you put it down) ? Do you hope for the best and end up running around like a headless chicken ?! Surely there’s only one simple answer to this dilemma ?! A RAINCOAT !

 1. Chanel / 2. Junya Watanabe / 3. & 4. Burberry / 5. Rebecca Taylor / 6. ASOS / 7. Miu Miu / 8. Topshop / 9. B.Young

WHAT ?!

A good old Mackintosh CAN look good. I know this may come as a shock to a lot of people who are still traumatized by the oversized bright plastic coats they were forced to wear as kids, but if you manage to get over your fears and take a look at what’s out there, you will discover a whole new dimension to Spring Fashion !

WHO ?!

As you already know, Burberry is the Number One reference in the Anorak/Raincoat/Trench domain. Other than their traditional prints, they also offer a wide range of coated nylon coats in all shapes and colours. Following the see-through trend this season, quite a few brands including Chanel and Miu Miu offer some quirky clear gear allowing you to stay dry whilst showing off the pastel skinnies and print blouse you’re wearing underneath. On the other end of the shopping-scale, Topshop and ASOS offer some stylish anoraks and trench coats – chic, cute, smart, you name it, JUST WEAR IT !

DO’s ‘n’ DON’Ts !

So how do you wear a raincoat without looking like a loser…

* DO go for plastic – shiny is in. / * ASSUMER le plastique.

* DO pull your hood up – and give us a cute smile ! / * ASSUMER la capuche.

* DO feel invincible and go for a walk. / * Se sentir INVINCIBLE sous la pluie.

* DON’T pass on dressing up for the day, you’re going to have to take it off at some point !

WOULD I ?!

Oh yes ! I’m rockin’ a beautiful black anorak from the chic Island of Ile de Ré (FR) !

Keep reading and thanks for following on Facebook and Bloglovin’ !
